Terrae Dragons are primarily herbivores who prefer to eat from the tops of trees. However, due to their massive size, they must rely on small, specialized scales to absorb and convert energy from the sun. Since they live in tightly-knit groups, this form of energy absorption helps preserve the forests in which these dragons reside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Jerene is an older dragon who lived a carefree life munching away at the treetops until one day, a faintly exotic scent caught his attention. He tracked the scent for hours until he came to an open grove. He poked his large head in and caught sight of a beautiful pink dragon with ink-black wings serenely munching on butterflies. He was so taken by her elegant air and her exquisite scent that he vowed to make her his mate. It took some courtship on his part—he was terribly awkward and apt to trip over himself in her presence—but she began to return his affections. Soon, he became a father, and he was tickled pink, so to speak, when his first offspring bore the lovely pink hide and wondrous scent of his mate Nilgiri.
