Paper Dragons are not truly living creatures. They are pieces of parchment enchanted by magic, and as such, are very vulnerable to fire. However, they behave almost like dragons. The only place where their behavior differs is breeding: paper dragons cannot breed.

Cartoneria was born in the usual way paper dragons come to be: irresponsible wizardry. An anonymous novice wizard was writing sacred runes on a piece of parchment when he made the mistake of muttering the penultimate rune- Cartoneria—and inadvertently brought the parchment to life. The price of this life, however, was the wizard's own humanity-- he was changed into a dragon and cast into the sea by the powers that be. To this day, nobody knows the rune that follows Cartoneria.
