Blacktip Dragons are a small, shore-dwelling breed that tend to nest on sheer ocean side cliffs. They live in groups under a dominant female, who prevents her subordinates from breeding. During the mating season, a group of Blacktips can be very noisy and smelly indeed; males produce a distinctive musky odor and loud, low-pitched honking noises in an attempt to woo the alpha female.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lesmuray is a shy, solitary dragon that prefers others over her own breed, mostly due to trauma from the alpha females of her kind.

She was a subordinate female once. Lesmuray was the lesser of a particularly nasty Blacktip Dragon, who enjoyed taunting her and punishing her for no reason whatsoever. This alpha female was frequently infertile, which was a shame among the group, so she took her anger out on Lesmuray.

This tension and abuse eventually culminated in a straight-up murder attempt, with Lesmuray the victim after she accidentally laid an egg. She had been away from the pheromones of the alpha female for a long time, so when the egg was  discovered, it was viciously thrown at her and the shards were used to try and cut her to pieces.

Ever since then, she's stayed away from her own kind.
