Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Much like a fellow vine named Lady Arachne's Death Child, this black dragon is under ownership of the spider gorgon, Lady Arachne. Ice Heart, as this dragon likes to be called, is very loyal to her master and she will always come to the gorgon's defense.

Ice Heart wasn't named as a hatchling because of Death's jealousy of her. The vine had convinced Arachne to abandon the hatchling, or at least ignore her until the hatchie proved that she had the power to be under ownership of someone as high-powered as Lady Arachne. Ice Heart did this by assassinating distant family members, and breaking Arachne's younger sister, Medusa, out of jail.
