Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It enjoys sunning itself in the morning light.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Red Dust Dawn is a little quiet and shy for a Sunrise dragon, but when she makes friends, she forms strong bonds. She can usually be found sticking close to the side of either her adoptive mother, Anita (Anita's Red Sky in the Morning), or her best friend, Dusk (Red Dust Dusk Dorkface). Even though Dawn is a Sunrise dragon and Dusk is a Sunset dragon, the two play together as much as possible in between the times that one wakes up and the other falls asleep. Dawn loves the carefree life of a hatchling. When Dusk was worried about gendering and growing up, Dawn suggested being frozen before either of them knew. Now, the two of them happily play together every morning and every evening under Anita's guardianship.
