Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Runner was outcast by his Whiptail tribe for his fear of heights. He was unable to leave the ground high enough for flight, due to his paralyzing fear, and was thus left behind as a hatchling. Luckily, a dragon caretaker and collector happened to pass by the helpless dragon and took him in. Even though he is unable to fly, he prides himself for his swift legs, and uses his wings to assist in propelling himself forward for even more speed. He loves racing the other dragons in the peasant's care, as they help him challenge and exercise his speed. Since the more moody ones are constantly annoyed at his energy and need for speed, they often swipe and get into fights with him. So, not only does Runner have exceptional speed on land but has lightning fast reflexes to go with it.
