Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Swift Flare was previously named as Fast Flare because since she loved to race a lot, her human thought that she was a boy. Swift Flare was admired greatly by other dragons, especially her older siblings (who she, in turn, look up to). The females thought that she (as dragons thought she was a boy) would make a suitable mate for breeding. One day, Swift Flare met Sunlight Kai. She liked him so she decided to ask if he would race her, he said yes. No one had ever beaten her, yet Sunlight Kai did.

As she grew up, her human found out that she was female. Even though she was female, her fans never wavered at cheering for her.
