Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Ileo has the trademark of innocence that most young hatchlings have, despite the fact that he will never age. However, he is sad and bewildered whenever another playmate grows up and joins the adults. Ileo is incapable of understanding his frozen state and constantly begs the other hatchlings never to grow up to no avail. In this way he is sort of the 'Peter Pan' of this dragon clan.
