Pink Dragons are primarily herbivores and only eat meat during the mating season, when mates will exchange kills. When it is not breeding season, pink dragons spend most of their time incubating eggs and caring for their clan’s young. Due to their feminine color, it was traditionally thought that pink dragons were a strictly female breed, but this is not true.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Takokujin's name means "foreigner, alien or stranger."  He was given this name when he cracked shell by the adult dragons who had (until that point) never laid eyes on a pink dragon that was also male.  The boastful Flamerous insisted that pink males don't exist, and has given Tako no end of trouble.  The two got into a brutal battle once over the continued harassment, the result of which was no clear winner.  However, in that battle Tako was able to prove that he is every bit a male and capable of holding his own, and since that time no other has challenged him.  He is, in fact, favored by the females as an exotic (and therefore desireable) mate.
