Gold dragons are the ones most often killed by humans, who consider their scales to be extremely valuable. These golden scales grant them a high level of protection, similar to armor, and they use this to their advantage in battle.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. Comet Aurum, named after her father Comet Halley, is the progeny of a line of quick, fast Golds. She always beats other dragons in races, even the Whiptails notorious for their racing skills. However, as a metallic, she shines very brightly and therefore is commonly accused of cheating. Those she races against are blinded by the sheer luminance of her scales, and this causes her great sadness that her very self makes it impossible for her to race fairly. She prefers the company of her mate, Lord Boo, a Royal Blue. He is a Lord among the best, and thinks the world of his precious Aurum.
