Sunbeam Drakes are the diurnal counterparts to Moonglow Drakes, their eggs having been laid during the daylight hours. They are around the size of a small dog, and while docile, can be flighty and easily startled. Most can be found high in treetops enjoying the bright sunlight, tucking themselves away at the first sign of a storm or impending nightfall. Sunbeam Drakes enjoy flying in the light of the sun, and their treetop dances are beautiful, dazzling, and serene.

Though it may appear at first that dragons and drakes have much in common, the two are completely separate species. Drakes are smaller and less intelligent than their cousin species, though both dragons and drakes sit comfortably near the top of the food chain. They are always found bearing antlers and leathery wings. Drakes share many of the same habitats that dragons do, and typically hunt in packs.

Day Delta is one of the original four to be born into the Delta Clan. Day was sort of the laughing stock of the neighbor dragons when he was little, so his siblings and his owner hid his existence from the world until every dragon forgot about him. One day inside the cave in which he was hidden from the other dragons he saw his sister, aka the glorious sun dragon princess, hiding behind a rock. He was only able to see her because her sun stone tail kept shining brightly. He then realized that he wanted to see the world again, so he quickly ran outside where the sun shined. By the time he saw the outside, day had arrived. That's how he got his name. By the way, he was the laughing stock because he was sometimes mistaken for a girl for having such bright and colorful scales. The Delta part came from his owner's name. His siblings and him are known as royalty in the clan for being the first eggs to be discovered.
