Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

This female was once very fond of roses. She maintained massive fields of them, lovingly watching over every blossom, cultivating new hybrids, savoring their scent and beauty as surely as most other dragons savor gold and silver. But one day, she found her work most horrifically mutilated; a human child had wandered into the rose garden and had taken it upon himself to pluck up massive swathes of the flowers to present to his mother. Enraged by the intrusion, the dragon dealt him a blow that would have done little but bruised a dragon hatchling--but which was fatal to the young human. Horrified by what she had done, the dragon promptly set her fields aflame, vowing to never so much as look at a rose again. She now wanders the land, a haunted being, looking desperately for a mage that can resurrect the dead and undo the most horrible sin she has committed.
