Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It has a large, shield-like object at the end of its tail that it uses for protection.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Little Tanka takes her job as a Guardian very seriously.  She rarely speaks, spending her time with Little Wisp watching over the hatchlings to ensure that play never gets too rowdy.  When the hatchlings are all tired out or otherwise busy, she always practices her defending manoeuvres; when no one is watching, Tanka pretends she is a hero, rescuing humans from pirates or saving hatchlings caught in trees.  Despite being frozen, she is the apple of her parents' eyes, and she is often bouncing about their feet begging them to teach her new defensive tricks and skills.
