Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This mint dragon, despite being smaller than almost everyone else in her cave, is very, very friendly. She's friendly to a point that it's actually debatable whether or not it's her only trait.

This is of course, more plausible than the idea that she's secretly a zombie. No, it's not possible. Zombies are evil, and unfriendly, and partially decayed. She couldn't...
