Spitfires are a desert breed of dragon. Their dull brown bodies contrast with their brilliant turquoise markings, and they only blaze brighter when these dragons fight. Spitfires are notorious for their territorial natures, and the wing-edges of most are ripped and tattered before their first year is out. Spitfires are also noteworthy for their brilliant blue fire, which is used not for hunting or fighting, but rather for making glass caves from the sand, in which the dragons can soak up the sun.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

After a huge battle between 2 clans of wild Spitfires, there were hundreds and thousands of eggs and hatchlings without parents. The war had taken its toll on the desert and wiped out about half the population of Spitfires there. There were craters of glass everywhere along with eggshells and eggs and hatchlings, some dead and some alive. One cave of dragons decided they would help restore the population by taking in all the eggs and hatchlings and raising them. One of the eggs found was Nithiron. His father being killed in battle and his mother having been killed in a siege, he was all alone until the dragons of this cave found him. He hatched and grew up, like all the eggs rescued, and is now a fierce, strong Spitfire. He's one of the strongest and most wise Spitfires in his clan, for he has been through quite a bit at a young age. This male is reasonably social, but when it comes to the topic of his past, he shuts the other out completely and changes the subject. It pains him too much.
