Cheese Dragons are not actually alive. They are enchanted items of food that act almost identically to dragons. They have no need to eat, but they must “live” in humid environments or they will dry out and harden.

Parmesan is, to be totally honest, a bumbling klutz. He means well but lacks the finesse of his peers; he cannot fly and does not move fast enough to participate in the games the land-dwelling dragons play. More than anything, he would love to splash about with the young Shallow Waters that share his cave, but he has heard what happens when cheese gets wet and has no desire to experience it first hand. He is a little short-sighted, and even more short-memoried, leading to almost every other dragon he meets describing him to others with the appropriate, if somewhat tiresome, pun 'flaky'.
