Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Aelithe is a Hatchling who suffers of the disease known as Frozen Blood Disorder. She does not realize what this means, of course, but the adult Dragons going all sentimental over it makes her mad. Out of anger, she does the most outrageous of things, which often leads to the frustration of her guard, Shirube. When her parents show up, however, she is a good girl and denies all acts of mischief.

Aelithe was to be the successor of her mother Levitha, but this was disturbed by her disease. It is, after all, quite difficult to look after all dragons in the cave as your children when you are a child yourself. Some Dragons consider her useless now, but Aelithe disagrees; she is completely in charge of the nursery, often to the frustration of not only Shirube, but that of her friend Kino Marth as well.
