Thunder Dragons are the masters of electricity. Their wings gather energy as they soar through the clouds, and when they clap their wings together they can create devastating arcs of lightning. They can stay airborne nearly indefinitely, landing only to sleep and breed; they catch their prey from the air and take moisture from the clouds. A thunder dragon’s roar is considered to be an omen of misfortune.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

The sky was dark. A clap of thunder echoed inside a small cave guarded by a tumble of blackened, misshapen rocks, where a wild dragon crouched protectively over a clutch of three eggs. The mother dragon nosed one gently as crackling electricity rippled over their dark shells.

A roar sounded from the entrance to the cave, and the dragon looked up with fear in her golden eyes. The roar came again, louder than before, and the mother hesitated. After a brief moment of indecision, she grabbed an egg in each talon and fled the cave, her wings sending jolts of electricity behind her as she flew. But one egg was left behind.

Tammibabs the dragontender stumbled across the cave shortly after the storm, and found the orphaned egg. She took it to the Dragon Cave, where it was kept safe and warm until it hatched. Thandrii the thunder dragon grew to be strong and fiercely protective. She spends most of her time flying through the clouds, where she can hear the elements of the sky calling to her.
