Aww... It’s a cute baby drake. It likes to be left alone.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young drakes are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own.

Spiderling likes to be alone. He is quite fond of the quiet that comes with it. While the other hatchlings romp and chase after each other, he'll slip away to traverse the woods. Listening to the mammals hiding beneath the leaf litter or the birds' calls brings him a sense of peace.

He loves to find great spider webs, some spanning between trees. He'll sit nearby and watch them catch bugs or fix tears in their precious home. He's seen some big-enough-to-catch bats, and those are interesting to watch. He finds himself on the edge of his claws. Most times the creature can escape, but those few times they don't are a marvel to Spiderling.
