Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s extremely curious and seems to enjoy exploring the area around it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

As elusive and beautiful as the flower for which she was named, Moonlily lives in the deepest, most secret parts of the forest, sleeping through the day curled within the wide lily-flowers. But when the sun sets, and the moon rises bright, she will awaken, and disappear amongst the trees in a flash of violet. Many have attempted to discover where the shining creature goes in the dead of the night, but none have yet succeeded. But some say that, when they have become lost in the thick woods, that they have seen a small purple dragon playing with fairies, and that the most beautiful of these rides on the dragon's back, with the softest bridal and saddle made of moss; and they say that this is the Queen of the Fairies, and that surely that little dragon is Moonlily, her faithful courier and closest friend.
