Green Dragons are also sometimes called “earth” dragons. They usually live deep within caves, and have power over the earth. They are capable of launching boulders at high speeds, and can cause earthquakes by slamming down onto the ground.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

His master's first dragon, Gaius Earthbound is considered by his master's later dragons as the most important, as he is quite literally the core of the dragon cave they live in; he lives in the heart of the cave, located a half mile below the cave's main entrance.  Gaius monitors the well-being of the cave, from maintaining its structure to defending it from below against invaders.  Despite having wings, Gaius prefers to use them not for flying, but for a completely different purpose: sensing vibrations in the earth caused by dragons lumbering above ground.
