Nebula Dragons are nocturnal creatures. With the best eyesight to be found, they are often seen staring into space. Each dragon tends to observe a particular nebula and will eventually change their colors and patterns to match it. As the nebula changes over time, the dragon changes with it. The more intricate the design of the nebula, the better chance an individual has of attracting a mate. It is said that the markings on no two Nebula Dragons will be exactly the same.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Aculeus is mentally challenged, but an incredibly gentle soul. He genuinely loves almost every living creature he sees, from the tiniest insect to the great Plated Colossi, yet fears anything that wronged him. He will not fight unless cornered, and even then it's simply a panicked struggle to get away. Craving both physical and mental stimuli, to him thunder is music to behold, leaf litter is precious and the ancient Stone dragon Fracktail is a goldmine of tales from the past. He cannot speak, communicating through cries, squeals and flailing limbs, a noisy combination if something excites him. Alas, this alienates many, as they do not know how to handle a fully-grown dragon who seems to behave like an infant.

On clear nights, Aculeus plays with the stars, flying and dancing as the constellations tell him to, tracing invisible but colourful patterns against the sky. If these are the key to unlocking the door to whatever vibrant mind lives within that dragon, they remain uninterpreted.
