Blazeback Dragons live in active volcanic regions, rarely straying from such homes. Their skin is thick and extremely heat resistant, allowing them to swim in hot pools of lava. This lava ignites the oils secreted along the Blazeback’s spine, and in combination with their ability to cast fire magic, can keep the flames going indefinitely provided the dragon consumes enough mana to maintain its strength. An impressive intimidation tool, the flames also provide enough heat to keep Blazebacks warm on volcanic summits.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

If one did not know any better, they would mistake Searing for her older sister, Smouldering. These two sisters look identical but behave completely the opposite. Smouldering is fierce, hostile, and merciless. She seeks to please their oppressive mother, Mare, at all costs. Searing doesn't care for her family and would rather abandon it, if only they didn't live in the closest volcanic area. Though maybe not entirely friendly, Sear doesn't mind other dragons and prefers not to meddle. She tends to stick to her own affairs and fly solo, though she is willing to help those in need if she comes across them. Sear cannot live without intense heat. If the temperature is not bleeding hot at all times, she is not happy. For this reason, she is trapped in the volcanic area of her home with her family, unable to brave anywhere colder. If ever she meets her sister, the two will fight viciously. They are known to have a fierce, on-going rivalry. This isn't helped by how they are mistaken.
