Originating from a single species that thrived in ancient times, Xenowyrms have become an incredibly diverse breed whose appearances vary depending on their habitats. Each Xenowyrm subspecies is heavily reliant on the power of different types of mana, making them powerful magic users. Chronos are often considered to be the most elusive of all Xenowyrm subspecies: they live in the darkest and densest forests, far from civilization. They are masters of time magic, allowing them to manipulate the flow of time at will. It is said that Chrono lairs are protected by a field of magic that makes the minutes tick by at a slow pace for any unwanted visitors.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Lucidity dwells in a deep, winding earthen tunnel dug by his own movements as he searches for deposits of mana and other interesting things in the soil. The oldest part of the tunnel is his actual lair, while the outskirts grow ever more convoluted and interwoven as the Xenowyrm explores. He has layered his earthen sanctum with magic, both by deliberate spellcasting and by the gradual radiation of mana from his own heavily magical presence. He sometimes goes forth out of his burrow to seek out caches of Time mana to collect. Crystals of Time mana line the walls of his home, accreting naturally.

The mice that dig their own tiny burrows in the walls of his home have been altered by his magical radiation into creatures that other dragons have taken to calling 'minute mice' for their weak yet disconcerting instinctive Time powers. For his part, Lucidity finds them amusing. His much vaster command of Time magic allows him to understand their little tricks rather than being confused by them.
