Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

There was an... unfortunate accident involving a spilled bottle of ink and Mint Sprig the Shy hiding behind his egg, so everyone thought Golden Nightshade was a black dragon rather than the golden wyvern he is. An agreement between the peaceful mages and warrior specialists which his parents were members of had been reached after his egg was laid. He was to become a great warrior following his father's footsteps rather than a mage like his mother. When hatched gold it caused, well not an uproar, but some discontent between the "do no harm" mages and the warriors since the black and gold pair's offspring had major potential for both. Golden Nightshade told both groups they were "being silly" choosing to learn the skills of both nighttime warriors and daytime mages.  He tends to only use his warrior skills for defense, as his nature is against killing. As a jack of all trades he has plenty of friends, though none particularly as close as they may have been if he had chosen only one path.
