Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It’s brightly colored and chirps quite often.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Parl hatched out of the other egg that Mewel rescued after following Pharolux to see where the purple dragon kept getting eggs from. She took the pink egg to replace the one she had laid that did not hatch.  Surprising everyone, Mewel took excellent care of her clutch, and Parl has grown up to be almost as zaney as her adoptive mother, but otherwise happy, healthy and fully functional.  Parl enjoys pranking as much as her mother, but doesn't have the same amount of imagination.  That will probably change as she grows older.  Right now, her favorite trick is to leap out from behind something, startling other youngsters, and attempting to frighten the adults.  She's so cute, they often humor her by acting terrified.
