Flamingo Wyverns are so named for their resemblance to the tropical birds with whom they often share territory. Their most striking feature is the bony black crest over their faces and snouts, larger in males, aiding both in digging up food and protection when fighting for mates. Males are duller in color than females due to their habit of wandering from nest to nest and picking from less algae-rich feeding grounds.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Rubeo is a lone dragon, who used to be a member of Luna's clan. He was raised by Attono to become a warrior, but during a training exercise climbing up a cliff, he got his tail caught in a crack. He tried to get it free, but when he pulled it out, it was fractured from the pressure of the solid stone all around it. Luna tried to heal him, but the bones fused incorrectly. He had lost the use of his tail, and could no longer balance while flying or climbing. Disgusted, Attono refused to teach him anymore. Since he had nobody else to turn to, and everyone found him useless, he fled. He now lives alone, depressed and crippled, and forever mourning the life he used to have.
