Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. Its eyes glow brightly at night, and it enjoys attacking insects and small animals.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Irrational is named quit fittingly. She believes she is the largest dragon in the cave, and tries to challenge Crazy for the leadership position. As a hatchling, though, Irrational is easily thrown long distances from the cave when Crazy is annoyed, yet she always finds her way home. Crazy humors her, since Irrational's behavior entertains her, but if Irrational is not careful Crazy may throw her so far she'll end up in a foreign clan's territory and may get eaten by them. Irrational does not worry about this, though, since she is the bravest dragon in Crazy's clan, no matter her true size.
