Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It perfectly depicts spring weather.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

This dragon had the misfortune of being the most adorable thing that her mother, The Awesome Gillian Beilschimdt, had ever seen. For many days after her hatching, Gillian could not restrain herself from bragging to anyone who was willing to listen that her daughter was as cute as a bird.

The poor female, however, takes after her shy and reclusive father, and constantly begged her mother to stop comparing her to little birds. Paying no heed to her daughter's requests, Gillian froze the hatchling so that she would stay cute and cuddly forever.

Thus, she regards freezing as the most Cruel and Un-Awesome Punishment any dragon could suffer.
