Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It likes to play in small piles of sand.

And look! Its wings have grown larger! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Gill was named for her ID code, "giIl".  Since she is too young to fly, the adults take sympathy on her and give her rides.  Gill is sort of babyish, which comes naturally with her unmaturation.  She is a "scaly sweetheart", according to her adopted mother, SpraySkimmer, another Waverunner.  SpraySkimmer adopted Gill after she was frozen.  She does not regret the decision.
