And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Battuta was the first hatchling born to the matron of the Mount Shanidar clan. He is maturing slowly, though his magical abilities are manifesting already. Visions<br/>of the future frequently visit his dreams, though so far he only sees things that affect the other hatchlings. Some of the adults are watching him closely for the day when his prophetic abilities mature. He also has an uncanny connection to his brother who left the clan at an early age, being able to tell if his brother is faring well or not.
