Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Blackberry is the eldest in his clutch of six eggs, and he serves as the peacekeeper among his siblings. Whenever two of the siblings get into an argument, he's always the one to break up the fight. Blackberry is very strict and serious, always doing his best to keep his siblings in line. However, he is also kind. On the birthday of any of his siblings, he gets the sibling a few samples of the toxic plant they're named after. He often gets annoyed at his adoptive father for trying to find Blackberry a girlfriend, despite Blackberry saying that he has no interest in having a relationship with another dragon.
