Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

It was obvious to any who cared to notice that when the flight's first vampires hatched, Vindiction instantly and unquestionably became the leader of the trio. Not afflicted with Gloire's insanity or Inamorato's romantic nature, Vindiction was a frighteningly clever creature who kept himself and his brothers from being destroyed by the rest of the flight long enough for them to mature into their full strength. He was the first to bite a stray egg and commanded the others to do the same, spreading his breed's infection and creating a following of vampires large enough to head off any threat the living dragons might pose.

Though he retains the intelligence and ruthlessness that made him the dominant vampire, Vindiction has since gained a weakness- his fondness for the valentine dragon Cuorefel. Very few know of his love for her, something Vindiction is extremely careful to maintain- he has worked far too hard and for far too long to expose his coven to anything that might threaten it.
