Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It is so full of energy that you have a hard time keeping up with it.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Goethite Chip is a very hyperactive little hatchling who does not remember when or how she was frozen, nor does she care.  Goethite is entranced by her keeper's spinning wheel and the only time she would sit still is when her keeper was spinning thread.  However, this caused problems later when all of her energy came out in hours of running around the dragon caves, disturbing the adult dragons to no end.  Her keeper came up with a solution to this energy by building a Goethite-powered spinning wheel, sort of like an oversize hamster wheel.  The hatchling can watch, and help, her keeper spin thread and run off her energy at the same time.  The adult dragons of the caves are all very happy with the arrangement as well, as it keeps Goethite from annoying them.
