Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Although not keen on battle, Aoife's love for her family drives her into a fierceness unheard of for a Golden Wyvern. She is the opposite of her mate Aonghas in that she is small and physically weak, but her magical abilities provide her with deadly weapons nonetheless. Their never ending battle against the Ice and Winter dragons living further up the mountains is a tough one: on the snowy tops of the highlands of Alba their opponents are in their element, using the frost to feed their magical powers and blizzards for camouflage. Nevertheless the Golden Wyverns have stood their ground so far, and Aoife prays it will stay this way for many generations to come.
