Aww... It’s a cute baby dragon. It loves watching the reflection of stars in the water.

And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

"C'mon, White-eye! Ple-e-e-ase" Ellenor begged. The White dragon sighed. She knew Ellenor wasn't used to being denied, and that denying her now would just get her in trouble with the Royal Blues.

"Fine, you troublesome hatchling." White-eye rose slowly, her staff in hand. She began to draw the charm on the ground. It was a simple circle, with the five points of a pentagon touching it. Ancient words slipped from White-eye as she drew in the symbols of life, death, sky, and mystery.

"Now, stand in the center of the pentagon." White-eye said, then resumed her soft chant. Ellenor obediently moved to where she was directed.

"Ancient Guardians, look upon this hatchling. Freeze life itself, and halt the eternal sands of time." White-eye hissed. "Still her growth, and let her live as a hatchling evermore."

Ellenor stiffened, then started shaking. She stepped away from the circle, well aware that the charm had worked. A quick thanks, and she was off.

"She'll regret this." White-eye muttered.
