When Water Dragons mature, they lose the ability to survive on land, entering the water permanently. They are adept swimmers and eat whatever fish are in the lake they live in. They tend to inhabit the same lake for their entire lives, although a few live in the ocean and swim all over the world.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. This dragon has a rather unique family line in that her father comes from a long line of nobles, whereas her mother comes from far commoner stock. It is not the mixed heritage that frustrates her, but rather the fact that she possesses fins rather than hands, which makes following in her father's footsteps rather difficult. It is hard to write poetry or manage accounts when you have only sharp claws and membranes rather than delicate fingers and thumbs, and this drives her mad to no end. But her father and mother, sympathetic to her plight, have arranged for her to have a friendly young male dragon assist her with hand-requiring tasks, and as time goes on, she's found she's rather fond of her aide.
