And look! It has grown wings! It must be close to maturing.

Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The Guardian Of Fall stopped aging altogether in order to save the flow of time itself. The dragon somehow aquirred an aging disease that would kill him after one month. Even though the spirit of the Fall Guardian is passed on to a new body after death, it took 6 months for it to be born again. If it died, it would not be able to make the transition to Autumn, stopping time completely. So, it stopped its own aging and kept the fabric of time in balance. It now supposedly rests in a hidden forest far away from any civilization.
