Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

Swordland is an extremely rambunctious dragon, always picking fights with the other hatchlings and bigger vampires in the Kendra clan. Play-fighting is her favorite pastime, and one of the only things Swordland likes to do. She's built up quite a arsenal of skills, preparing so that when she finally does venture out on hunts with the grown-up vampires, she'll be ready to show everyone who the best vampire is—her.
