Black Dragons are warriors. They are strong and capable in battles of force, but also ample magic users, capable of devastating opponents with their spells. Their bright eyes give them excellent night vision, which is why they generally hunt during the night.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

It is unknown how The Black Countess earned her title, and she has never shown a desire to share the story. Rumor says it was gifted to her by one of the clan Elders after a fierce battle. Others say she adopted the title herself and has no true right to use it. Given her prowess in battle, nobody is quite curious enough to risk life and limb trying to get answers from her.

As one of the strongest warriors in her clan, she can often be found out flying patrols or hunting, favoring the more dangerous areas and prey. Though highly skilled, she rarely teaches hatchlings how to hunt or fight, preferring to carefully select only the most promising candidates and focus her attention on them.
