Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Rannoch is a bold young Yulebuck hatchling. He is smart, cunning and looks up to Birrmagnur. Rannoch is best friends with the hatchlings Larka and Keeka and they are never seen far apart. All three like snow and playing hide and seek in the fir forests. Rannoch sometimes gets his friends into trouble, but they always manage to get out and are playing again minutes later.
