It was previously believed that purple dragons were exclusively female, but this is not the case. Recent environmental shifts have revealed the existence of both genders of this breed. Female behavior is well known; they are primarily herbivores but will eat meat during mating season. On the other hand, very little is known about the behavior and habits of male purple dragons.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Few things make Vivere happier than seeing others happy.  He is also the clan's unofficial matchmaker, although ironically, despite being a dragon that can increase fertility, Vivere has never himself find a mate, although he says he knows the perfect one for him is out there, he just hasn't met her yet.  Currently being the cave's only purple dragon and an expert in fertility he teaches matured hatchlings about love and what can result from it.  Most approve of his role as he has a way of not making it seem scary yet making sure they know it can be a serious thing as well.  When not teaching mature hatchlings about love and about it, he serves as a traditional teacher as well, teaching them knowledge on how to survive and other useful skills, because of all the material he needs to teach Vivere is also one of the smartest dragons in the cave and is a good friend to his owner Orion.
