Holiday dragons are a very mysterious breed. They are only seen during winter, and even then it is hard to catch a glimpse of one. They are responsible for the general cheer that spreads during the holidays. In essence, they are the “Spirits of Winter.”

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

When a hatchling strays into a blizzard, when an egg is left abandoned in the snow, ArkAngel will come. The dragon, young or old, will find themselves following her blindly into the night. They cannot feel the ground beneath, no senses or thoughts. Only a feeling of relief. Faint happiness, even.

ArkAngel is, in essence, the Grim Reaper of Christmas. No, not grim. She is far from an unfair entity who delights in the capture of souls from the mortal realm. Rather, it is only her duty to bring the dying to rest, to end their suffering. She finds no joy in it, only when she sees the spirit reunited with their deceased relatives does she smile.

Other Christmas Angels may bring the sense of elated bliss and cheerfulness to human villages, or gather the dragons for a night of peace. ArkAngel brings these feelings to the dead.
