Vampire Dragons are members of the undead. They sustain themselves by drinking the blood of others. It is said that they are only “alive” at night, and seem dead or asleep during the day, as they cannot endure sunlight for long periods of time. Vampire Dragons can only reproduce by changing the eggs of other dragons, puncturing the shell with their fangs and injecting venom that kills the baby inside.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Brother of Deimos, Phobos was discovered as an egg by the human girl Flight in the Mountains of Elgar. Never having seen a Vampire dragon before, Flight became horror struck when Phobos first hatched. After staring, terrorized, at the apparently dead hatchling until night fall, Flight heard Phobos laughing, having been aware of the girl's distress and taking delight in it. Despite his cruel personality, Flight continued to raise the hatchling, who proceeded to take pleasure in any sign of fear given by any living creature. One day, as a mature hatchling, Phobos and Flight were approached by Chaos, a Guardian dragon who served as the leader of a feared and disliked group of dragons known as the High Family. It was on this day that Chaos took Phobos away from Flight and raising him as the first of the Posluga, a new group that would serve the High Family, where he's been ever since. With his brother, Deimos, Phobos represents fear itself in the Posluga.
