Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Element of Au, also known as simply just "Au", came from a short line of Blacks and Golds. He is one of the few dragons that do not belong in a clan. He used to be in the Huho clan, (which is now disbanded, along with some other clans) where he was named "Golden Tinsel of Justice." He hated the name and all of the attention he was getting was only because of his small lineage and rarity. So he ran far away to a small cave where he could live in peace. He hates company, and he might even kill to have some quiet! He is looking for a Black to extend his lineage. Maybe one who feels the same pain. And, at last, he found one. Her name was Lonely Shadow. Her scales weren't as dark as they should be, and her eyes didn't shine brightly in the darkness, but Au saw past this imperfection and chose her as his mate.
