Daydream Dragons are the hosts of daydreams and fantasies. They spend the majority of their time sitting on clouds, dropping daydreams down into the minds of people passing by. Humans who live near Daydream Dragons must be especially careful not to let their thoughts wander, or they could end up spending hours or even days in a trance-like waking dream state.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Quoth the Dream is the unofficial cave scribe. He keeps a record of the daily happenings in dragonic runes, and tries to keep as unbiased as possible, like a good scribe, though occasionally the scroll keeper adds in her own comments in a noticeable violet ink, which annoys Quoth the Dream to no end. Quoth the Dream is one of the most intelligent dragons in the cave (though, after the scroll keeper's endless lessons, who wouldn't be intelligent Except maybe the Ochredrakes, but no one's really counting them), and he considers himself one of the scroll keeper's favorite dragons. Quoth is rather near-sighted and thus wears glasses. Sometimes, the other dragons enjoy stealing his glasses and hiding them and watching in amusement as he flies into walls and the books the scroll keeper has stacked around the cave.
