Young dragons are relatively defenseless. They are born with relatively soft scales, which are shed and replaced with harder ones as the hatchling matures. Once a hatchling’s wings grow in, it typically marks the beginning of maturation. At this point they are often capable of hunting on their own and are usually left alone by their mother.

The faMiShed dragon is a peculiar water hatchling. It always seems to be starving, and can't find anything to stave off its hunger. No matter how much it eats, it never becomes obese or even full. Many dragons wonder where all of the food goes, but none can guess, as they are usually hiding their own meals from the hungry hatchling. Thankfully, the whole territory's food hasn't been stripped to the bare, since The faMiShed Dragon can't leave the water, and although it does eat almost everything, one thing it cannot even get near are pine cones, though nobody consumes them due to them being inedible.
