Feisty and energetic, Whiptail Dragons pride themselves on their speed and agility. It is not unusual to see several whiptails racing each other. Though fragile, they can easily evade attacks with their superior speed, and often use their long tails as a weapon, giving rise to their name.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

LashLeaper is a Whiptail dragon, and possibly one of the first Whiptails to find a way to race on water. She showed a liking for water as a hatchling, often splashing around in the shallows, and getting the water living dragons to teach her to swim. She found that her compatriots weren't particularly interested in swimming races, all of them preferring to run on the ground. However, she easily found several companions of other species to join her. After a game of creating waves on the water by lashing her tail,  she found a novel method of racing- using her tail to propel her forwards. In this way, she became another first. The first dragon to use an underwater propeller.
