Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

A certain cave in the mountains is known for containing a certain dragon who says a certain thing a lot, namely "gold gold gold gold GOLD gold gold gold gold GOLD GOLD GOLD GOLDDD!"

That dragon is none other than Daymajet the Third, who as one has probably guessed by now is very fond of gold. Obtaining her loot through exploration, bartering, and even thievery, her treasure piles are so large that she can (and routinely does) bury herself completely in them. Such times are also the only times she'll shut up, at which point she waits in stealthy dragon mode, sometimes decades on end, for some fool to try to take her treasure--at which point she robs them instead! Thankfully for all her obsession Dayjamet does draw the line somewhere, and that line is at violence; like her father, she abhors needless aggression, and accordingly the only gold she'll pass up is that which is defended so stubbornly that blood would have to be drawn to claim it.
