Golden Wyverns are known for their beautiful metallic scales and rumored magical abilities. Living high in the mountains, these dragons do not believe in killing for sport or pleasure. They will hunt only when hungry and defend themselves when provoked, but will avoid killing to the best of their abilities. Golden Wyverns often mingle with other dragons of similar color and take pride in their shimmering hide.

Dragons are highly-intelligent reptilian creatures that—from a human perspective, at least—appear to live forever. Many different varieties of dragon exist, each with their own unique qualities, habitats, and behavior. Adolescence in dragons is usually marked by the growth of a hatchling’s wings, although not all breeds of dragons grow wings and some breeds have other traits that indicate the beginning of maturation. In Galsreim, dragons and humans coexist peacefully.

Ferrod Arutu is something of a legend because of his infertility issues. Before he found his lifemate, he was desired by all females looking for a suitable male. He would try to hide from his suitors, but with his golden scales he was easy to spot. Ferrod Arutu was terribly embarrassed by this problem, but even the purple dragons admitted that there was nothing they could do to help him. After this disheartening prognosis and a relationship with a shadow walker that went horribly wrong, Ferrod Arutu packed up and left for the volcanic regions, but even there he became a novelty for females as they all badgered him, giving him tips to help him overcome his problem. Then along came Losvir Di Tobor, a feisty cavern lurker who took pity on Ferrod Arutu. She took the disheartened golden wyvern under her wing and showed him true kindness, and not long after they became lifemates. Losvir Di Tobor was finally able to give Ferrod Arutu the thing he desired most; a child of his own.
